Following Your Heart’s Desire

“It shall come to pass that before they call I will answer and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.” (Is. 65)

As a young adult, I had people around me that didn’t believe in me; constantly reminding me that I was nothing or nobody. It was like a broken record. Unfortunately, the opinion of another held me back from seeking my heart’s desire for a few years. Today, that is not the case.

Whenever someone has a negative opinion about my life or my work, I know, in my Spirit, this is not truth because it does not come from God. My “Go To” affirmation is: “Well, that is not what my Mother/Father in Heaven believes or wants for me.” It has saved me from stepping into places I don’t belong.

I had the opportunity to share this with a friend of mine. She was curious and I went on to explain to her that I don’t have a mediocre God in my life. I have a big God.

How big is your God? As Florence Scovel Shinn wrote, “Do not magnify obstacles; magnify God’s power.”

Following one’s heart’s desire is a matter of sweeping the old stuff out and using whatever spiritual tools available, while being washed clean from personal shortcomings and moving on. All going forward comes from a desire to be.

“Hope deferred makes the heart grow sick, but a dream fulfilled is a tree of life.” (Prov. 13:12)
