Women and the Priesthood

We thank those who embraced the vision and began the process of opening the doors for women to be ordained.
As found in scripture, Jesus treated women as equals and not as second class citizens.
Paul said, “Faith in Christ Jesus is what makes each of you equal with each other, whether you are a Jew or a Greek, a slave or a free person, a man or a woman.”
Women attracted to Jesus’ message traveled with him during his ministry.
Mary Magdalene & Mary, Mother of Jesus walked with Jesus to Calvary; stood with him at the Cross, never leaving Jesus’ side.
On the third day after his death Christ appeared to Mary Magdalene with a promised message.
We turn to scripture and meet women who continued with Christ’s work after his ascension to Heaven. A fine cloth merchant named Lydia assisted Paul during his ministry.
In our era, many women raising their own families are ministering to others who are often viewed by the church as marginally unfit to spread the Spirit of Christ.
This same giving and loving Spirit is alive among those brave souls who step out in courage, accepting the mantle of ordination.
As Jesus eloquently stated, we are to “finish the work he sent us to do.”
We are in the midst of great spiritual transformation on our planet.
Women’s ordination is bearing good fruit and will continue to move forward. There are many women serving as priests and ministers in small faith-based communities, counseling centers, outreach ministry, chaplaincy, other settings and so can you.
I have come to understand it is not what makes us different, but what makes us the same.
We are called into his service by spreading the Love of Christ and His Word!

“For He testifies, “You are a Priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek!” (Heb. 7:17)
