Beyond the Pulpit…
Recently, we began harvesting Olives.
Our goal was to pick as much ripe fruit as possible before the birds thought we opened an all you can eat buffet.
Kurt made a comment, “We are gathering the first fruits.”
It was exciting to look up and see the abundance of God’s creation covering us.
As we made our way around the tree, a few Olives came loose from the branch above and hit me on top of the head. The Holy Shekinah Spirit was trying to get my attention; a reminder to add in Jesus’ “Parable of the Sower” with today’s message.
Do you remember this parable?
The farmer tosses out some seed; birds had a super food meal, some sprouts didn’t make it and there were rocks and thorns in the way; obstacles everywhere.
Did the farmer get discouraged? No! Would you?
On the final toss, the seed connected with rich soil; sprouting, growing and bearing fruit that produced one hundred times as much as the farmer originally planted.
Every tree will be revealed by the quality of fruit it produces and so it will be with us in our spiritual walk with Christ.
