“Nations will walk in the Light of Christ.” (Rev. 21)
Jesus was the first live representation of the Light that humanity witnessed. The Light was in and around him.
Those who were closest to Jesus during his earthy ministry, at first glance, did not recognize him after the resurrection.
For example: Two of Jesus’ followers on route from Jerusalem to Emmaus meet a stranger. Jesus engages them in conversation and gets invited to their home. It wasn’t until “He sat down to eat with them, took the bread, said the blessing and broke the bread” that his identity was revealed.
At this precise moment, Jesus disappeared from their site. “Their eyes were opened and they recognized him.” They said to each other, “Wasn’t it like a fire burning in us when he talked to us on the road and explained the Scriptures to us?” (Luke 24)
We all have the Light within us supplied by the Spirit. When a fire is not tended to, it will extinguish.
Here is a question to consider on this special day:
“Will you prepare yourself to welcome a Gospel Light, even if you seem to have very little faith?” (Peace of Heart in All Things, Brother Roger)
“Thank you, Jesus for your Light.
Thank you, Jesus for your Love.
Thank you, Jesus for the help you send us from above.”
(Awakening the Inner Ticker of Life, pg. 21-22
