Beyond the Pulpit…
We are traveling to the Garden of Gethsemane where we find Jesus in distress, “If it be your will, Father, let this cup pass from me.”
The one whom he broke bread with was on his way to fulfill the destiny of giving Jesus up for thirty pieces of silver.
“We can never fully comprehend Christ’s suffering; but at least we don’t have to misunderstand it. It is the torment of God and man in one person, coming face to face with sin.
It is not the death of the Cross that Jesus agonized over in Gethsemane.
In fact, he stated very emphatically that he came with the purpose of dying.”
Would he get through to humanity as the Son of Man? Many forgot what he taught and abandoned him.
However, Jesus was confident of getting through to us as the Son of God; making it possible for the entire human race to be brought back into a right-standing relationship with the “One who loves us with an everlasting love!”

“Into your hands I now entrust my spirit. O Lord, the God of faithfulness, you have rescued and redeemed me.” (Ps. 31)
Psalms of Hope
In the Garden, we find “Passion Vine.” If you look closely, you can see the Cross of Christ.
“Even as the crowds were appalled after seeing you. You were so disfigured as to no longer look human.” (Is 52)
