No Separation

St. Scholastica was the twin sister of St. Benedict of Nursia (no relation to the soon to be ex-pope).

“Scholastica was dedicated to God from a young age (some believe that she preceded Benedict in godliness, and he came to holiness after she did).”

“The most commonly told story about her is that she would, once a year, go and visit her brother at a place near his abbey, and they would spend the day worshiping together and discussing sacred texts and issues.”

During their last yearly visit together, Scholastica wanted to spend more time with her brother. She went to prayer and suddenly a storm arose, and none were able to depart. Benedict asked her, “What have you done?” Scholastica replied, “I asked you and you would not listen; so I asked my God and he did listen.”

A few days later, as Benedict was praying, he got a quick flash of his sister’s spirit leaving the earth and ascending above in the form of a beautiful white dove.

God did not allow the barriers of rules to create a wall of separation from those who needed him most.
